Problems receiving emails

Members may experience problems receiving our emails due to SPAM and junk mail filter settings. Here is a guide on how to ensure you receive our emails:

If you use Hotmail
If you use Yahoo!
If you use other email providers

If you use Hotmail

You need to add Trade Me to your Hotmail Safe List. Your Safe List can be accessed from the left hand side of your Contacts page:

1. Go to Hotmail and login to your account
2. Click the "Contacts" tab at the top of the page
3. Click "Safe List" on the lower left-hand side
4. Enter "trademe.co.nz" and click "Add"

This is completely safe, and you can remove Trade Me from this list at any time.

If you've recently completed a trade

Check your Junk E-Mail folder regularly in case email from the other trader has arrived here rather than your Inbox.

If you're sending email to a Hotmail address

Here are some tips to maximise the chance of your email getting through:

- Do not use lots of capital letters in the subject or the text of your email (called SHOUTING)
- Send plain text rather than HTML emails
- Don't use marketing terms like "free offer" or "satisfaction guaranteed" or special characters like ***

If you're still not getting any response, try sending the email from a different email address. If you're attempting to contact a member with a Hotmail account, try to send an email from another Hotmail account

If you use Yahoo!

To prevent your Trade Me emails being added to Yahoo's Bulk folder, login to your Yahoo mail account and follow these steps:

1. Click "Mail Options" at the top-right of the page
2. Click "Filters"
3. Click "Add"
4. Enter "trademe" as a 'From header'
5. Select 'Move the message to Inbox'
6. Click "Add Filter"

If you use other email providers

Most email providers now have a junk mail or spam folder. You should check this folder regularly to ensure that email from Trade Me or other traders isn't being put here rather than your Inbox.

You should also add Trade Me to your contacts list or safe list to ensure that emails from Trade Me are not blocked.
