John Norton is sent down to be hanged for murder on the basis of Holmes investigations. He swears to kill Holmes before he can be executed. It seems imposssible task until his wife delivers a christmas pudding to his cell.

Holmes is instructed by 11 year old Amanda Fenwick to find his father who has disappeared in mysterious circumstances. Holmes immediately suspects a gambling connection which leads him and Watson to the murky world of illegal boxing.
