Very old oak sewing cabinet with Unity sewing machine.
This cabinet and its machine were manufactured by The National Sewing Machine Company in the US late 1800's to early 1900's. I bought it early this year, along with the other one I have listed, to do up but have sadly not found the time, so have decided it needs to go to a new home.
The cabinet is in good restorable condition; although there is some age related wear to the veneer on the top of the cabinet, I think it adds to the charm. It is over 100 years old after all. One of the drawer knobs has broken off, but could be glued back on or replaced with a reproduced one. Overall this cabinet and machine are in better condition than my other listing, but the cabinet is not as ornate.
The treadle belt needs replacing but is still with the machine. The foot mechanism still raises and lowers the sewing foot nicely, the stitching mechanism and the feed dogs move freely. There is no needle, but the bobbin shuttle is still there, complete with bobbin intact. These are often missing.
Buyer must pick up, sorry not feasible to freight this cabinet as would just cost too much.
