The Current Cost Home Display Unit is a highly accurate second generation LCD home electricity monitoring device.

"Current Cost Changing Habits, Reducing Waste"

"VDUs such as The Current Cost Smart Electricity Monitor can assist people in significantly reducing energy consumption. "

"People want to do their bit to help protect the environment. If they can save money at the same time, all the better."

"The beauty of Current Cost is that it shows you how much energy youre using right now. And it also shows how much its going to cost you every day and every month, unless you alter your behaviour."

Why should you get a CurrentCost unit?

I use one because it talks with my computer, and I'm interested in developing and using internet applications for monitoring and managing my home energy use.

Dad uses it to keep an eye on what's happening in the kitchen before dinner time (when he's watching television in the lounge).

A friend uses one to minimise their standby electricity use - down to 18 watts - they're pretty sustainably minded to achieve such good performance.

My mate Mike used his to show his wife what it was costing to leave all the bl@@&y lights on!
He also used it to see how much electricity the welder was using.

Another friend uses the CurrentCost to work out how much he is saving with his new solar water heater.

The Current Cost LCD monitor has been designed to assist you in stopping wastage, this doesn't mean stopping usage. If you are wasting energy, you are wasting money. The bar graph should show virtually nothing during the night and if you are working it should show the same during the day, if it doesn't, maybe you are leaving something(s) on that could be turned off.

For detailed information visit www.currentcost.co.uk or simply ask us a question - we're more than happy to help.

Single phase unit (ask me to list a three phase unit if you would like to bid for one)

PC connection cable available separately.

We are the NZ Agents for CurrentCost - although there is no warranty stated on the UK product, we stand behind it with a 12 month warranty. NZ power plug as standard. Select the "$" symbol when you set the price of electricity. Cheers, Malcolm

You state the consumption meter is plugged into one power socket. How can this determine consumption change throughout the whole house? There would be other houses in the street on the same phase with varying load too. I am intrigued both with the consumption monitor & how it works. An explanation how it works would encourage me to bid. If a three phase unit was purchased would it have to be installed on the switchboard by an electrician to enable it to be connected to all three phases? Thanks.   posted by: crescendo2 (34 )  9:54 pm, Sat 22 Nov
power equals voltage times current. Voltage in nz is 230Vrms, and current is measures by electromagnetic induction (no electrical contact with mains voltage ar sensor). Cheers, Malcolm 1:03 am, Sun 23 Nov
Ah! I've now viewed all three pictures & note the clamp probably attached to a wireless sender in one picture. This shows diagramatically a computer, clamp for hooking around the phase wire where it enters the house & the digital consumption meter. As they say "If all else fails read the instuctions!" One last question. What is the maximum consumption the consumption meter will read?   posted by: crescendo2 (34 )  10:09 pm, Sat 22 Nov
Maximum capacity is 100Amps per phase, roughly 70kW for 3 phase. sensor ring picks up current by electromagnetic induction (no electrical contact required). signal is transmitted wirelessly to the lCD display, and then to computer (if desired) using special USB cable (sold separately).
